Hours per week:

Up to two or three hours per day during the week between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 15:00 p.m

Hourly pay rate:

£15 per hour plus mileage at 40p per mile

My son is a cheeky and energetic young man, he enjoys the outdoors and activities, listening to music and interaction with familiar adults.

This is a rewarding and vital role to support my 19-year-old with severe autism, at home or during outings. I am looking for a personal assistant.

The role is for a personal assistant to provide companionship, some personal care, and sensory exercises. My son is non-verbal and has difficulty communicating his needs. He needs help with personal care, needs to be watched for not eating non-food items and needs company in activities. Full training will be given.

My son can, but rarely, have aggressive behaviour, with training and familiarisation this can be predicted or managed.

There would be an extended period of familiarisation where the PA would gradually learn how to take care of my son.

My son is is non-verbal, and I am a translator/English teacher, so it could be an interesting house to work for foreign English students interested in social care.

Duties include:

  • Personal grooming
  • Eating and drinking assistance
  • Other relevant duties as required
  • Housekeeping
  • Cooking
  • Transportation
  • Dressing / undressing
  • Bathroom assistance

  • Supporting with safety in and away from the home, near roads etc.
  • Monitor for eating non-food items.
  • Be aware of triggers or early warning signs, acting accordingly to reduce/manage this behaviour

Candidate qualities:

  • Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality

  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

  • Car owner and driver
  • Previous experience working with SEN adults or children is desirable
