Hours per week:

Currently up to seven hours available. Saturday and Sunday mornings 8.30 - 9.30 (9.00 - 10.00 also okay) Friday, Saturday, Sunday evenings 8.30 - 9.30 Additional hours available middle of the day for lunch prep, or assistance with domestic tasks, or early afternoon while wife can go upstairs for a rest. This could be Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday or Sunday

Hourly pay rate:

£22.00 per hour - can be discussed

I'm looking for some support for my father in Chelwood Gate who has moderate to advanced dementia as his wife is main carer and no longer able to do everything he needs. He needs a lot of prompting to take off outer clothes and, remove specs and hearing aids, and get into bed. He also needs help to get up and dress, shave, clean teeth, eat breakfast and take meds. He's pretty agreeable to work with and seems to like a chat most in the evening when preparing for bed.

Duties include:

Medication prompting/administering
Personal grooming
Housekeeping
Cooking
Companionship
Dressing / undressing

Candidate qualities:

Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
Reliable with good timekeeping
Hygienic, tidy and well organised
Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
Honest and cheerful
Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

Experience of dementia-related aphasia type speech difficulties.
Ability to make people feel safe.
Personable yet professional.

Additional requirements

Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
