I am looking for personal care for a Child

The candidate should be a woman*

Drivers licence required: Yes

Own vehicle needed: Yes

Hours per week:

Term time: Wednesdays 3-6pm School holidays: Wednesdays, 3-6pm, Every other Friday 10am-2pm, plus support on the occasional Saturdays (times and dates are flexible and negotiable)

Hourly pay rate:

£14 per hour plus 45p per mile

I am mum to a very loving 9-year-old girl, who loves music, animals and being outdoors. She loves little figures and objects, anything small she can fit in her hands and line up!

I am looking for a kind PA who can take her out to and participate in fun activities such as swimming, horse riding and there will be days when you join in with family trips out so that I have an extra pair of hands to ensure both my girls have adult attention. There might be occasions where support will happen in our home; this might include indoor creative activities and helping me with bath times.

My daughter is high on the Autistic spectrum and has some verbal communication. You will need to be someone adaptable, reading and responding to her needs as she can present some challenging behaviour. Once she’s made a connection with you, she will give you lots of love and so many smiles. Her infections laugh will brighten your day.

Initially a flexible approach will be required to establish what support will be best for her.

Duties include:

  • Personal grooming
  • Eating and drinking assistance
  • Other relevant duties as required
  • Cooking
  • Transportation
  • Companionship
  • Dressing / undressing
  • Bathroom assistance

Supporting my daughter when accessing social and leisure activities e.g. swimming, outdoor activities, horse riding etc

Whilst on duty at the employer’s home assisting with craft activities or activities linked to interests.

Planning and supporting activities linked to the individual interests of my daughter.

Candidate qualities:

  • Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Creative
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Experience working with Autistic children is desirable
  • First Aid Training desirable, but not essential as training can be provided.

 

Additional requirements

Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
