Our personal care assistants join our client’s support team, providing reliable, essential care and support in their home. You will be employed by HomeCareDirect on behalf of the client and your focus will be to support them only.

As a member of the caring team, you'll be responsible for a wide range of tasks that can vary day to day, so an amount of flexibility is required.

Some of the main duties include:

  • Administration of medication
  • Moving and Handling with Hoist
  • Gastrostomy Care / PEG feeding
  • Personal Care
  • Assisting in the community
  • Administrative duties
  • Light housework

Ideally, you would also have previous experience with Status Epilepticus and practical experience of giving Buccal Midazolam and be able to identify and understand a medical emergency. It is our clients preference to have non-smokers.

Training and Support:

We provide comprehensive, paid training to CQC standards covering:

  • Full induction
  • Safeguarding Adults · Health & Safety / First Aid / Food Hygiene
  • Moving & Handling with Hoist
  • Gastrostomy Care / PEG Feeding

All training must be completed before the start date, with training hours paid at minimum wage

Duties include:

  • Medication prompting/administering
  • Eating and drinking assistance
  • Moving and handling
  • Clinical tasks
  • Dressing / undressing

Candidate qualities:

  • Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy and well organised
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

Requirements: 

  • You should have excellent communication skills
  • You will be friendly and dynamic with a strong personality and common sense
  • You should have at least 6 months of recent complex care experience, which will include dealing with seizures, PEG feed, catheter and administering medication
  • Commitment to long-term, person-centred care
  • You must be reliable, compassionate and committed to respecting confidentiality

Additional requirements

Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
