My 19-year-old daughter is looking for a friendly, outgoing, open-minded PA/support worker to help build her confidence and get out and about.

Although she may come across as quiet and anxious at first, once you get to know her, she can be very chatty and come out of shell. She is a very creative and intelligent person; she loves to draw. My daughter has a whole host of tattoos and enjoys anime and cosplay. She would like someone who can connect on her level.

She suffers from anxiety and has anorexia, so someone who is non-judgmental who can build a trusting relationship will be important. Experience of working with young people and mental health is required.

Duties include:

  • Transportation
  • Companionship

  • Expanding her horizons by suggesting ideas for experiences/activities/groups etc and encouraging her to try new things. E.g. exploring education, courses and employment too
  • Working with my daughter to plan where to go together
  • The above duties will involve driving my daughter in your car

Wellbeing tasks:

  • Develop a good understanding of my daughters needs and how best to support her.
  • Encourage but not push her to access activities/experiences.
  • Support my daughter to develop independent living skills e.g. organising for days out, planning what to take etc

Candidate qualities:

  • Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
  • Able to tolerate the employer smoking in the workplace
  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Creative
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Must be comfortable with pets
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

  • Must be happy to work in a smoking environment (my daughter smokes outdoors)
  • Someone who is willing to refrain from smoking inside our home.
  • If required, be willing to undertake training for the role

Notes:

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
