My son is a 6-foot stocky autistic adult with epilepsy that is very sweet. He is loving and he can be defiant but it’s always with good cause.

Recently he has become interested in basketball from watching “Like Mike” which is a Disney film. He is very artistic and likes working with clay. He has a passion for everything Disney and his favourite films are The Land Before Time, and Jungle book. He also loves Pokémon.

My son is non-verbal but can use the odd words in the right place. And is very good at picking up other people’s emotions and can be reactive to them. Sometimes he finds conversations difficult as he finds it hard to understand what is being said. We need a PA that bares this in mind and can communicate in an effective manner for him. Such as using gestures, visuals and miming. This is very important for us as he doesn’t like to feel like he has failed.

My son has a bit of a difficult time accepting that he is autistic and can get distressed sometimes when he can't accomplish things. A PA that can work with him on this is key as we want to avoid him become so distressed by this that he slaps himself in frustration. He has some difficulty recognising faces so may not recognise you for the first little while until he becomes used to seeing you regularly.

He will need help with money handling whilst out and will require prompting with hygiene when using the bathroom.

We are looking for a PA with high level skills and experience dealing with autistic adults. Someone that can keep my son engaged and enriches his life for the better and understands how neurodiverse minds tick. He can be a flight risk if he feels frustrated so if you are out with him, we would ask that he be monitored at all times.

We are looking for someone that help my son experience new things such as days out, camping and social excursions. A mobility vehicle will be available to be able to do so, this will include accompanying him to a care centre on Tuesdays.
We also need a PA that is tech savvy as I will need help with administration such as writing letters, booking tickets, paying for parking etc.

My son really needs a friend out of his PA, someone that enjoys the same things as him and is open minded with a lot of experience.
