Hours per week: The role would be for 7 hours per week split over 2 shifts. Monday and Friday 9.30am to 1.00pm Additional hours available for accompanying me to hospital, GP and dental appointments
Hourly pay rate:
£15
I am a friendly 55 year old woman looking for a Female* Personal Assistant to support me with living in my own home, who can learn to recognise when I need help and be responsive to my needs.
I have Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus and am physically unable to carry out some everyday tasks. I am wheelchair bound.
Assistance will include some personal care, administration, preparing meals, some domestic tasks and accompanying me to social activities, theatre, support groups, GP, dentist and hospital appointments.
I am interested in crochet, tapestry and crafting.
Duties include:
Domestic Tasks
- Washing up, cooking light meals, food preparation, laundry.
- Light housework (A cleaning agency provides 2 hours of cleaning on a Wednesday).
- Accompanying me shopping (A local supermarket delivers main shopping on a Wednesday).
- Light maintenance e.g. change a light bulb (Routine maintenance is provided by professionals).
Personal Care Tasks
The care agency provides personal care everyday between 8 am and 9 am. Therefore, personal care will only be required when needed.
Social Tasks
- Accompany me to appointments e.g. GP, hospital, dentist.
- Meet with family/friends.
- Attend support groups, if needed.
- Take part in leisure activities.
Administration Tasks
- Help with paperwork.
- Help sorting post.
- Help writing letters.
- Help filling in forms.
- Help making phone calls.
- Help arranging appointments.
- Help booking taxis for appointments.
- Help ordering food shopping, on Monday, for a supermarket delivery on Wednesday.
- Help ordering repeat prescription.
- Help ordering items from Amazon.
- Help with minor IT issues.
Candidate qualities:
ESSENTIAL
- Entitled to work in the UK.
- Female * (due to personal care).
- Able to learn the needs of a disabled person.
- Self-motivated.
- Able to follow instructions and work on their own initiative.
DESIRABLE
- Have previous experience of providing personal care.
- Experience of working with people with Hydrocephalus.
- Driving licence and own car desirable, but not essential.
Additional requirements
Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
