I'm looking for 2 PAs, who will be working together as a 2:1 for my 10 y/o son to have day trips out and about (eg. swimming, the beach, soft play, bowling, library, cafés, places with outdoor spaces - Amberley Museum, Bluebell Railway, Wakehurst, Fishers Farm etc), go for long walks in the countryside (which he loves the most) and also indulge him in his many interests at home and in the local area (eg. cutting brambles, sweeping leaves, cooking and baking, animal care, litter picking and bin lorries!).

Both PAs must have professional or lived experience in working / supporting children with complex needs and anxiety. Both PAs will need to supply an Enhanced DBS and professional references. Both PAs will need to be physically fit and like being in the outdoors. PAs need to have had some experience, or just have a willingness to learn, in using Visual Stories and Makaton signing.

My son has a rare chromosome disorder called Phelan-McDermid Syndrome and Autism. He has a learning disability, communication disorder, anxiety and sensory processing issues. Due to his anxiety when he becomes overwhelmed or feels unsafe he can display distressed behaviours, this is why he has funding for 2 PAs to work alongside each other with him. He very rarely experiences these behaviours at home and when out and about with family or other trusted adults.

My son requires help with personal care. He is physically able and has no medical requirements.

With understanding, kindness, patience and appropriate 1:1 support he is a complete joy to spend time with - he is very engaging, communicative, friendly and enthusiastic and receives great pleasure and reward when participating in everyday jobs, activities and adventures.
