Are you someone who is playful and fun?
Do you like working with children and have experience of Autism?
I am mum to a clever, chatty, dramatic 7-year-old girl who is obsessed with making films and videos of everything! She loves puzzles, stickers, music, drawing and princesses! She loves outdoors and getting muddy!
I am looking for a caring, encouraging PA who can take her out to and participate in fun activities such as swimming and walks, and there will be days when you join in with family trips out so that I have an extra pair of hands to ensure both my girls have adult attention. There might be occasions where support will happen in our home; this might include indoor creative activities and helping me with bath times.
My daughter has Autism and can present some challenging behaviour so you will need to be someone adaptable, reading and responding to her needs appropriately. You will also need to be a fast runner to catch her if she decides to run off.
Initially a flexible approach will be required to establish what support will be best for her.
Duties include:
Supporting my daughter when accessing social and leisure activities e.g. swimming, walks to the park etc.
Whilst on duty at the employer’s home assisting with craft activities or activities linked to interests.
Candidate qualities:
Be flexible and adaptable.
Experience working with Autistic children is desirable.
First Aid Training desirable, but not essential as training can be provided.
Additional requirements
Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
Notes:
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.
