Own vehicle needed: Yes

Hours per week:

5/6 hrs a day Mon to Fri during college holidays with start date asap, term time 3 hrs M- F from 1pm

Hourly pay rate:

£12.00

I am looking for Personal Assistant for my delightful 20-year-old daughter with a physical disability. She is a cheerful and open-minded individual who enjoys a variety of activities, such as listening to music, drama, and creating art. I would like a caring and patient companion who can provide the support she requires to live her life to the fullest. The role is to provide support with fun and social activities whilst also helping to develop her life skills.

This can be a job share role so please apply for any hours you can offer.

Duties include:

  • Personal grooming
  • Moving and handling
  • Transportation
  • Companionship
  • Bathroom assistance

Support to teach and develop life skills such as cooking

Support to attend groups such as drama

Support to attend and engage in age appropriate activities to meet others and to have fun

Support to attend gym

To support to develop links with other people of own age

Support to engage in voluntary work in the future

Wheelchair is used when out although she has some mobility

Support with using toilet while out

Candidate qualities:

  • Hygienic, tidy and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills

  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Must be comfortable with pets
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

You would need previous experience of care work and experience of mental health

Additional requirements

Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
