Drivers licence required: Yes
Own vehicle needed: Yes
Hours per week:
6 (possibly rising up to 10) hours a week over 2-3 days Monday – Friday (actual days and shift times by mutual agreement)
Hourly pay rate:
£12.50 + ph (higher rate will be considered for experienced PAs)
My sister and I are looking for a kind and compassionate personal assistant to support her with activities within the home and running errands.
My sister is in her forties and has Mental Health challenges, she requires support to do the activities she takes pleasure in as well as to completing day to day tasks in order to help her gain confidence.
Tasks will include, going for walks, playing badminton, going shopping and accessing the local community. Although willing to try new activities around exercise, fitness etc she will require gentle encouragement to engage in these.
My sister enjoys being at home and needs to be supported and encouraged to do different things eg cooking, baking, arts and crafts, and to keeping on top of domestic chores and general housekeeping.
My sister is a quiet person and likes animals, gardening, baking, cycling, swimming, lego, tea and making things/ being creative.
She would really like someone to support her in becoming more independent and confident as this would greatly improve her quality of life.
If you like animals (we have a cat), enjoy walking and or cycling, and being outdoors in summer then this could be the job for you.
This is a rewarding role with training provided.
The role requires close personal contact with an individual who is extremely vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission. Preference may be given to applicants who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Careful consideration will be given to applicants who can show the vaccination is not suitable for them on reasonable grounds.
Duties include:
- Support with general life skills, coping skills to reduce anxiety
- Accompanying and undertaking social and leisure activities
- Assist to access and partake in exercise
- Support employer’s sister with communicating with people in the community
- Assist to manage with levels of anxiety
- Accompanying and assisting on shopping trips
- Suggest and organise new activities to try out together (eg cinema, sports)
- These will include driving my sister in the PAs car.

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
