I am looking for personal care for a Man

Drivers licence required: No

Hours per week:

Hourly pay rate:

£13 per hour day rate.£16 per hour evenings and weekends.

Carer/PA needed to help keep company with a 74 year old, male stroke survivor.Communication is limited but good understanding and sense of humour is still there. Small amount of personal care is required and preparing food and drink is needed.

Duties include:

  • Medication prompting/administering
  • Cooking
  • Companionship
  • Dressing / undressing

Minimal food preparation and help dishing up food and drink is required but no help is needed with feeding.

Candidate qualities:

  • Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy and well organised
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard

As a PA you would need to be patient and take your time to get to know him and what he needs. Due to his Dysphasia he may not be able to verbalise everything but is still able to make decisions. Giving him options on what to do rather than telling him is very important as it helps him retain his independence.

My husband sometimes forgets that he is not as mobile as he used to be and will try to walk himself, or get something from a kitchen cupboard. I would like to be able to go out with the grandchildren or with friends knowing that he is safe at home so your support would be very much appreciated.
