If you’re a self-employed PA, there’s a new way to get your Enhanced DBS check sorted. East Sussex County Council now has a DBS umbrella service up and running.
Here’s what you need to know:
What it is ESCC is a registered body with the DBS, which means they can process your Enhanced DBS check for you, even though you’re self-employed.
What it costs £49.50 for the Enhanced DBS itself, plus a £20 admin fee (£24 with VAT), so £73.50 in total. You’ll need to pay upfront through ESCC’s online payment portal before your application goes ahead.
How it works The service runs on Digital ID verification, so you’ll need a smartphone or tablet to scan your documents and complete a quick likeness check.
Once you’ve got your DBS, it’s worth signing up to the DBS Update Service too, so you don’t have to go through the whole process again next time.
Full details, including the request form and timelines, are on the East Sussex County Council website.
