Autism: Meltdowns & Shutdowns

On 21 May @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Dealing with meltdowns and shutdowns can be the hardest part of a PA’s job.  The individual you support has lost behavioural control; you are probably in a public place; you must balance safety and dignity to bring this incident to a conclusion…

During this session we will discuss:

  • The difference between an Autistic meltdown, a shutdown and an emotional outburst.
  • The factors that can trigger a meltdown or shutdown.
  • The impact on the Autistic individual and the person assisting them.
  • How to support the individual during and after a meltdown or shutdown.

This training will be delivered by Aspens, online via Microsoft Teams, and is fully funded for PAs.

You must be logged into the website to book places.
