Hello there. I am looking for someone to assist me with caring for my 24-year-old son, within our own home. He has Down Syndrome and severe non-verbal autism/complex and challenging behaviour. He requires 1:1 24/7 care/supervision in all areas of his life, including all elements of personal care such as feeding, bathing, and so forth. Outside of the home, he needs a 2:1 ratio of help to access the wider community.

He has sensory processing disorder; therefore, he is very sensitive to noises, textures, his surroundings, and emotions. Following lockdown, He was unable to return to his college placement, and has been at home with me ever since. As I don’t drive, and have a spinal disability myself, this has meant a decline in opportunities for inclusion within the wider community – which I feel would be so very beneficial to him.

Although he is non-verbal, what he lacks in verbal communication, he makes up for with body language, gesture, and PEC cards. He is an absolute afficionado on an iPad – particularly kids programmes on YouTube!

He is a cheeky, friendly, funny, and affectionate young chap, who would benefit hugely from the input of a PA/Support worker to help enrich his living experience both in the home and the surrounding community.
