I am looking for a support worker to help my 30 year old daughter helping her lead a purposeful and fulfilling life, enjoying all the adventurous activities that she loves. She is a really active person with a happy cheeky character.
The role will involve building a trusting relationship where you can communicate effectively with my daughter. She is non-verbal, autistic, has a learning disability, sensory processing disorder, and some complex needs. She does need some prompting with daily activities/personal care and needs supervision to keep safe.
The work will take place both in the family home and in the community. The community support will involve supporting my daughter to enjoy lots of fun and adventurous activities. We have a couple of support workers on our team but would love to have somebody to cover some sessions on Monday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday and be available for some Saturday/weekend support. This role would be suitable for one or two carers to take on, so please apply even if you can only work some of the days.
Duties include:
Employee Duties:
- Confident driver with a clean driving license
- Willing to drive a Motability car
- Confident navigator in all situations (car and walking)
- Understanding of an individual’s complex sensory and communication needs
- Ability to connect, interact, and build a meaningful, trusting relationship
- Willingness to find numerous ways to communicate
- Provide personal care throughout the day
- Stay alert to foresee possible stressors and dangers
- Think for the individual and always stay attentive to needs
- Good level of strength and fitness required
- Prompt and physical assistance always required
- Intensive interaction
- Food prep, assistance around meals, and hydration monitoring throughout the day
- Allergy awareness (training can be provided)
- Ability to administer medication
Desirable Requirements:
- First Aid & Epi pen trained
- Coeliac awareness
- Awareness of Autism
- Instructing/Sports qualification
- Food hygiene qualification
