We are seeking a dedicated, trauma-informed Live-In Personal Support Assistant, on a temporary basis, who can support an individual committed to living life to the fullest. This role operates on a rotational basis, working 13 hour shifts from 9am to 10pm before handing over to a second PA, ensuring consistent and coordinated care.

This is a vibrant and varied role supporting someone who enjoys a wide range of activities and aims to take part in them regularly. You will assist with community-based outings such as cinema trips, bowling, shopping for clothes, music, and films, as well as swimming and horse riding — both of which offer important physical and emotional benefits. A proactive approach is valued, as you will help identify and organise opportunities that broaden enjoyment and independence.

Alongside leisure activities, the person you’ll support is actively involved in meaningful work and advocacy. They are a Trustee for a national charity within the Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) community and also contribute to university teaching sessions with Speech and Language Therapy students. You will assist with related travel, including quarterly trustee meetings in Leeds that involve 3–4 overnight stays, as well as occasional longer trips and holidays.

Your responsibilities will include providing sensitive personal care such as showering, washing, dressing, and assisting with eating and drinking. You will also undertake domestic tasks including cooking, cleaning, shopping, laundry, and maintaining an organised home environment. In addition, you will support essential communication by making phone calls on matters such as wheelchair maintenance, communication aids, medical appointments, and other practical needs — following up calmly and persistently to ensure timely outcomes.

A significant part of the role involves supporting social engagement, facilitating activities, joining in when needed, and offering steady, reassuring presence. You will work closely with a small team of PAs, contributing to a coordinated, consistent, and supportive approach.

This role is ideal for someone compassionate, organised, adaptable, and enthusiastic about enabling another person to live a fulfilling, independent, and adventurous life. If you bring empathy, initiative, and a positive attitude, we would be delighted to hear from you.
