We're looking for a caring, patient and reliable Personal Assistant to support a lovely 17-year-old young man at home and gently encourage him to access the community at his own pace.
He has autism and epilepsy and is fed via a gastrostomy tube, so experience supporting individuals with epilepsy and gastrostomy care is essential. He can be quiet and sometimes non-verbal when meeting new people, but once he feels comfortable, he is incredibly kind, sweet and enjoys spending time playing Roblox, chess and Uno.
The role includes providing support with personal care, prompting him with daily routines such as brushing his teeth and getting dressed, offering reassurance when needed, and encouraging his independence with light household tasks like making his bed and hoovering. You'll also support him in accessing the community when he feels ready, always respecting his choices and never applying pressure.
We're looking for someone who is compassionate, understanding and committed to helping a young person build confidence and independence while having fun and feeling supported.
Duties include:
- Personal care
Candidate qualities:
- 2 cats and 2 dogs, so applicants should be comfortable with pets
