Personal Assistant/Support Worker for our 22 year old daughter

Hours per week:

4 hours per week. Preferably every other Monday (early evening) to accompany our daughter to a Downs Syndrome group. Other times and days flexible. Monday- Wednesdays preferrable. Please apply with your availability.

Hourly pay rate:

£12.21 per hour. Mileage @ 45p per mile

Our 22-year-old daughter is a happy, helpful young lady who loves a bit of ABBA. We are looking for a calm happy go lucky PA, whose infectious enthusiasm will help her step out of her comfort zone and develop her independence.

The role will involve getting out and about, doing what young people do, which may involve having girlie days that include shopping sprees, cinema or bowling, whilst developing her sense of road safety and supporting her with money sense. She has a bus pass to access some activities, but having your own car will be important for longer journeys.

Our daughter has Down Syndrome and she has limited speech, so you will need to patient and understanding, getting to know her in order to build a good level of communication and rapport with her. She likes cooking, eating, afternoon teas and we have travelled all over the world. In those situations, she can be very independent, and the aim is to expand this independence into her everyday life.

 

Someone with similar interests and outlook would be an ideal candidate for this role.

Travel training – Using bus pass, supporting with road safety/awareness

Money Sense- Support to make decisions on spending and making payments whilst out and about
