We are looking for a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Personal Assistant to support our loving and cheeky 6-year-old son, who has Autism and Smith-Lemli-Opitz Syndrome. We are seeking someone who is patient, understanding, energetic, and able to provide a fun, safe, and nurturing environment where our son can thrive.
Our son is fully mobile, active, and affectionate. He communicates using a limited number of single words and benefits from patient support to help him express himself and engage with others. He does not eat or drink orally and is working towards toilet training.
The role involves helping him get out and about in the community, supporting him to feel safe, regulated, and confident while encouraging social interaction and engagement in activities. You will also spend time playing with him at home, assisting with communication, and helping him access enjoyable experiences in a safe and supportive environment.
He feels most comfortable with people he knows and trusts, so we are looking for someone who can build a positive, consistent relationship with him over time. He has a gastrostomy button which will require monitoring; full training will be provided. Applicants should be aware that he can run very fast and has no awareness of danger, so close supervision is essential at all times.
If you are interested in making a positive difference to a wonderful little boy's life, we would love to hear from you.
