I am a 64-year-old woman who uses a wheelchair and am completely blind and I am looking for a friendly, reliable and experienced Personal Assistant to help me stay active and engaged in my community.

Your support will primarily involve accompanying me on weekly shopping trips, taking me to the gym, and attending the synagogue a few times each month. You will also help me access other community activities as needed, ensuring I can continue to enjoy an independent and active lifestyle.

It’s important that you have clear communication skills, as I sometimes have difficulty understanding, so patience and attentiveness are essential.

I am looking for someone who is friendly, reliable, and compassionate, and who will enjoy helping me stay connected, active, and involved in the things I love.

Duties include:

  • Medication prompting/administering
  • Personal grooming
  • Eating and drinking assistance
  • Other relevant duties as required
  • Shopping
  • Transportation
  • Companionship
  • Bathroom assistance

Candidate qualities:

  • Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard

The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer.
