Hello! I'm looking for a kind, patient and friendly Personal Assistant to help me get out and about and enjoy my local community.
I'm 19, autistic and profoundly deaf. I communicate differently from other people and sometimes need extra time and patience to express myself and understand what's happening around me.
I'm looking for someone who will take the time to get to know me, understand how I communicate and, most importantly, see me rather than just my disabilities.
I'm particularly interested in having someone who can help me:
- Get out into the community and try different activities
- Go for walks and days out
- Visit places that interest me
- Socialise and experience new things
- Develop my confidence and independence
I communicate using lip-reading and BSL, but I'm not necessarily looking for someone with lots of experience of autism or deafness. The most important things to me are that you're reliable, open-minded, and that you're comfortable supporting someone who communicates differently.
If you think you could be the right person to join me on some of my adventures, I'd love to hear from you!
