We are looking for a kind, friendly, and reliable Personal Assistant to support our son, who has Cerebral Palsy. The role will begin in early September and involves providing gentle, hands-on support with his evening and morning routines, as well as being available during the night if he wakes and needs repositioning or comfort.
Although his medication and personal grooming are usually already taken care of, there may be times when you’ll need to assist with these tasks. Your main responsibilities will include being there if he wakes up during the night, helping him get comfortable again, and supporting him in the morning by administering medication (if needed), helping with grooming, preparing breakfast, and assisting him into his chair to start the day.
In the evenings, you’ll help with bath time and spend time with him before bed – he enjoys watching TV as part of his bedtime routine. Experience working with children or young people who have complex needs, particularly those with Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, or who are gastrostomy-fed, is essential.
We are a pet-friendly household with three dogs, so being comfortable around animals is important. The ideal candidate will be warm, understanding, and have a good sense of humour. We’re looking for someone who is not only capable and experienced but also fits well into our home environment and genuinely enjoys supporting others.
Duties include:
- Personal care
Candidate qualities:
- Good sense of humour
- Understanding
- Paediatric care (1 year) preferred
- Gastrectomy care experience
Additional requirements
Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
Notes:
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
