We are looking for a friendly, caring and reliable PA to support a lady who lives independently in her own home with her lovely cat for 5 hours a week split over two days on a Monday and Thursday.
She has always enjoyed cooking but, due to physical difficulties, is no longer able to manage meal preparation on her own. She would love to rediscover her enjoyment of food and home cooking with the support of a PA.
We are looking for someone who is patient, kind, encouraging and enjoys cooking. You should be happy to work alongside her, offering practical support while respecting her choices and helping her remain involved in the things she loves.
If you enjoy cooking and would like to help someone continue living independently while bringing enjoyment back into mealtimes, this could be a lovely role for you.
This is an opportunity to make a real difference to someone’s daily life by helping her maintain her independence and enjoy the comfort and pleasure of home-cooked meals again.
Duties include:
- Helping to put away shopping and organise food supplies.
- Supporting her to plan meals for the week, taking into account her tastes and preferences.
- Preparing and cooking home-cooked meals, such as shepherd’s pie, lasagne, curries and other favourite dishes.
- Assisting with chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients and other aspects of cooking.
- Preparing meals in advance, portioning them and storing them safely for the week ahead.
- Supporting her to make balanced food choices in line with her dietary needs, as she has diabetes.
- Encouraging her to be involved in meal planning and preparation wherever possible, helping her regain confidence and enjoyment around food.
