To Be Discussed
Hi! I’m a 57 year old woman and live in Salisbury with my husband, and I’m looking for a caring, reliable person to support me with my day-to-day needs and help me get the most out of life.
A little about me
I love the theatre, cricket, tennis and, of course, Strictly Come Dancing! I enjoy nights out at shows, meeting friends, trips to London and the occasional celebrity-spotting adventure. I love reading, chatting and having a good laugh, and our cat, Cocoa, is always happy to provide a cuddle.
I’ve had a varied life, achieved well academically and spent many years working to improve the lives of other disabled people. I’m independent-minded, enjoy a good debate and value being able to make my own choices. I’m also a night owl, so late evenings are often part of my routine.
The caring role
I have severe cerebral palsy affecting all four limbs and use a wheelchair full-time. I need assistance with all aspects of personal care, including washing, dressing, toileting, eating, drinking and getting in and out of bed. A hoist and sliding sheets are used for transfers and repositioning, and I need help administering my medication. Appropriate training and guidance will be provided where needed.
I’m looking for someone who is patient, understanding and respectful, and who recognises that good care is about more than completing tasks. It’s about supporting me to live life on my own terms, with dignity and as much independence as possible.
Household and social support
My husband has some medical issues of his own, so you’ll also help with everyday household tasks, including cooking, laundry and keeping things running smoothly. We enjoy sitting down for meals together and having a chat.
I love getting out and about, whether that’s going to the theatre, visiting friends, seeing a film or heading to London in my adapted car. A full UK driving licence is essential, along with flexibility and a sense of adventure.
I’m looking for someone who wants to become part of our household, share experiences and have a laugh along the way. My previous carer stayed with me for over 20 years, so building a positive, long-term working relationship is important to me.
Working arrangements and pay
I’m open to discussing different working patterns, including live-in arrangements and rotas such as two weeks on and two weeks off. I’m happy to consider both directly employed and self-employed carers.
Pay will depend on the agreed arrangement, with a minimum of National Minimum Wage as a guide. For directly employed carers, I can offer 5.6 weeks of paid holiday per year. Accommodation and food are provided for live-in arrangements.
Working hours, breaks, overnight arrangements and responsibilities can all be discussed to find an arrangement that works for everyone.
Could this be the role for you?
You don’t need to be an expert in cerebral palsy or a Strictly superfan! What matters most is that you’re kind, reliable, respectful, willing to learn and happy to get involved in both the practical and fun sides of life.
If you’d enjoy a role that combines meaningful care with conversation, outings, books, music and plenty of laughter, I’d love to hear from you. Send me an email telling me a little about yourself, and we can arrange a chat to see if we’re a good fit.
I look forward to meeting you! 🌟
