We are looking for a warm, engaging, and proactive Personal Assistant to support a bright and inquisitive 15-year-old boy who loves to explore the world around him. He enjoys playing Skylanders, Minecraft, and going on adventures to the park or swimming — and he’d love a PA who will join in the fun with him!
His interests are wonderfully varied: from maths, dinosaur and evolution/science to arcades, golf, food, animals, and the show Octonauts. He’s also fascinated by the Chinese zodiac, making every day an opportunity for conversation, learning, and discovery.
He has ADHD and more pronounced autism, and he wears ear defenders to help manage sensory sensitivities. He prefers calm environments and appreciates understanding and patience from those around him. The ideal PA will provide gentle guidance and offer options that empower him to make his own choices, occasionally using visuals to support communication and routine if necessary.
The role includes supporting him with accessing the community, helping him navigate social interactions, and encouraging his independence. While he manages his own personal care, the PA will offer minor prompting where needed. A love of being active will be an advantage, as he enjoys athletics and spending time outdoors.
During term time, the day may typically start with a school pick-up at 3pm, or if that’s not possible, beginning at home around 4pm, where Mum will outline plans for the evening ahead of time so you can both do enjoyable and meaningful activities that match his energy, interests, and comfort levels. During school holidays, extra hours may be available which would be more flexible.
If you are enthusiastic, patient, and creative, and would enjoy spending time with a wonderfully curious young person, helping him grow in confidence and independence, we’d love to hear from you.
Duties include:
