We’re looking for a kind, patient, and reliable person to support a gentleman with a warm, easy-going nature and mild dementia. He spends his days comfortably in his bungalow, usually watching TV in his riser-recliner armchair. His memory can be a little patchy, but he remains calm, content, and responds well to gentle, reassuring support.

Support is needed every weekday, for at least a two-hour slot between 11am and 2pm. Hours may vary slightly day to day, with the possibility of longer shifts when needed. This is an immediate-start role.

His balance is becoming increasingly unsteady, so the main focus of the role is offering safe, steady physical support. He wears a handling belt and also has an indoor wheelchair; the carer will need to be confident and comfortable using both. The role involves guiding him when transferring between his riser-recliner chair and the wheelchair, supporting him while walking to the toilet, and assisting with manoeuvring from standing to sitting on the toilet.

While he enjoys company, he’s also very happy to watch TV independently. You won’t need to sit with him continuously—he has a call button and knows to press it when he needs help.

A clean driving licence and access to a vehicle are preferred, with parking available close to the bungalow. This role suits someone experienced with dementia or mobility support, confident working alone, and able to provide calm, respectful one-to-one care.

The current hourly rate averages £20, with flexibility and negotiation available.

If you’re looking for meaningful weekday work and enjoy providing supportive, steady-paced care, this could be a great fit.
