We are looking for a kind, energetic, and caring Personal Assistant to support a bright and funny 13 year old boy with quadriplegic cerebral palsy. He’s part of a lively family, has an identical twin, and brings a wonderful sense of humour and warmth to every day life. He uses a wheelchair full-time, lives with epilepsy (fully controlled), and has a shunt, so we’re looking for someone confident in providing thoughtful, hands-on care while enjoying his engaging personality.
The role is based in the family’s countryside home and runs from 4pm to 8pm, four days a week. Flexibility around finish times is welcomed, but a 4pm start is essential to help with his return from school and support him through his evening and bedtime routine.
You’ll be assisting with hoisting, personal care, dressing, bathing, and toileting, as well as meal prep and feeding (his meals are pureed but he eats orally). Time together may also include reading or just hanging out—he enjoys good company and playful conversation.
The focus of the role is primarily on him, though on Mondays (when he's usually not at home), you may spend time with his twin brother, who has learning difficulties. A calm, patient presence will go a long way in supporting him. Mum is always nearby and happy to offer guidance or help when needed—the family are open and communicative and value a team approach.
His bedroom is wheelchair accessible and downstairs in the home and has been set up with care to ensure all his needs are supported easily.
A full driving licence is essential as you’ll be using the family’s wheelchair adapted vehicle. Since the home is in a rural location, you’ll also need your own transport to get there.
The family has two friendly dogs, so being comfortable around animals is important.
If you're compassionate, reliable, and enjoy making a meaningful difference in a young person’s life, we’d love to hear from you.
Duties include:
Candidate qualities:
- Understanding/experience of epilepsy care
- Energetic and outgoing
- Confident
- Full UK driving license
Notes:
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.

Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
