About me
Hi, my name is Steve and it’s very nice to meet you!
I have a very kind and caring nature with a good sense of humour. I love a good old chat on any subject and if you supply me with plenty of tea and biscuits we can sort the problems of the world out!! I also know when to be quiet too and listen which is just as important! I have experience of looking after friends and relatives for most of my life and I enjoyed doing so. I looked after my father in the last year of his life, around the clock towards the end. I liased with GP’s, District and McMillan nurses and other specialists to make him feel comfortable and looked after.
As for the jobs I have done, apart from caring, I have worked as a cleaner at Church Farm Holiday Park in Pagham cleaning the caravans and lodges and I have also worked as a Lobby Host in McDonalds which was meant I kept the restaurant side clean and tidy
I have a real love for music and write songs on my guitar and I used to have a complete recording studio which took up a bedroom in my house. I used to put complete Pop/ Rock songs together playing all the instruments myself and singing too. Love a good old sing song too!!
I also love swimming, cycling, drawing portraits and I used to teach golf at a Driving Range some years ago.
My experience
As I referred to earlier, I looked after my father around the clock in the last year of his life. I learned a lot but mainly that it was so important to keep his spirits up by doing little things and getting him out of the house as much as I could.
Letting him keep his dignity intact at all times was priority number one. Giving him things to look forward to was also so important, even if it was just working out what TV programs he was going to watch later that day. It was a roller coaster ride but we did all right together!
