About me
Hello!
I am a 31 year old female who is currently studying a PGCE in primary education with SEN specialism. I have five years experience working in schools with young people who have additional needs. Primarily I have worked with college and secondary school students ages ranging from 13-25 years old. I am very passionate about being an advocate for young people and people with additional needs and helping support them to develop their independence, self- worth and self-efficacy. I am a positive person with a happy outlook on life who enjoys socialising with different people. I always adopt a growth mindset and am kind, caring and considerate. I want to contribute to a inclusive and understanding world where everyone truly experiences fairness.
In my spare time I like to read, crochet and cycle. I have an art background having studied an art and design diploma and a BA Honours in Art and Design. I love history and going to sites of interest as well as museums and galleries. I am a approachable and smiley person with a big heart.
My experience
I worked in a educational setting for disabled students for three years; during this time I provided medical, physical, emotional and educational support. Working at this school/college was the most inspirational time of my life; I gained so much from each unique person I helped and gained so much experience. My motivation for becoming a personal assistant is the opportunity to, once again, make a meaningful difference in someone's daily life and help create independence, connect and dignity.
During my time in this role I assisted the students with eating and drinking, observed and recorded nutrition, followed care plans including physiotherapy and occupational therapy. I provided personal care and medication administration including epilepsy rescue medication. I followed and contributed to student's emotional and behavioural support plans and ran an extracurricular art club.
I have worked in an Social, Emotional and Mental Health school (SEMH) with young people who are neurodivergent and neurodiverse and I am very familiar with ASD people and working in a trauma- informed way.
