About me
Hello,
My names is James,
I’m 37 years old, currently residing in Leicestershire. I am, however, happy to travel to assist in a vulnerable persons life, wherever that may take me.
Travelling is my passion. Seeing new places, experiencing new things and meeting new people bring me an immense amount of joy. It has lead me to places all over the globe. My travelling adventures started shortly after I finished 3 years of cognitive behavioural therapy. While CBT was fundamental for teaching me the impacts of trauma in life, I went on a search for alternative healing techniques that would help me progress along my healing journey.
For the last decade I have been searching internationally and inwardly for practices, awareness’s and techniques I could incorporate into my life that would help me to start living free from the confines of trauma and abuse.
As well as spending time with a trained psychotherapist I have experienced many wonderful eastern teachings and practices. some one of them were incredibly profound and liberating. At first I assumed Eastern teachings and philosophies would be the sole answer to the questions I had about freeing myself but I have since realised that a balance of both is fundamental.
I currently have no experience working in health and social care but I do possess a wealth of knowledge that has freed me from abuse and trauma relapses. I understand that people who have experienced abuse and trauma may never be able to forget what has happened to them, I also understand that isn’t the main goal. The goal ( for me ) is to recognise triggers, behavioural patterns and emotions that would interrupt my day to day living, and use techniques I have been taught to make myself aware of these changes and whatever may have caused them.
Understanding the cause of triggers, changes in mood and emotions is a huge step towards being free. It can be hard to understand these though, as it usually requires putting a lot of trust in one or more people. I know Trust doesn’t come easily for vulnerable people but I have found being open and honest about my own experiences helps remove barriers people may have put up in defence.
I have had the pleasure over the years of meeting some incredibly courageous people, who have their own stories to tell. One of the most common comments I received from them is how trustworthy they feel I am As well as being kind and genuine. I find it easy to connect with most people but in particular people who have suffered abuse and trauma. I have already helped a number of people progress along their path. It’s amazing to see the change in people just by listening and sharing.
I’m very easy going and laidback with a huge can do attitude. I’m inspiring and uplifting. I’m always open to new views and ideas. I make an effort to review my approach regarding helping others and learn from every one I encounter.
There isn’t, unfortunately, a single definitive method for helping some one. It depends largely on the persons experiences, perspectives and current environment. To name a few factors. The fundamentals are always the same though. Time, patience and openness help build a foundation of trust and togetherness.
I have a varied collection of interests and hobbies, I love all of them in equal measure. I find peace in nature while camping and hiking. I release stress and tension through skateboarding and going to the gym and I find beauty in the world looking through a camera lens. Sometimes I try my hand at artwork too. I have a very eclectic taste in music that ranges from 60’/70′ and 80′ to drum and bass. With so many interests and passions I always find a subject in which to bond with people.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I’ve tried to keep it as brief but encapsulating as possible. If there is anything else you would like to know or you simply just want to have a conversation I’m only a phone call away.
Many thanks,
James
