Empowering Choice: Mental Capacity Essentials

This training is essential to ensure that individuals who may lack capacity receive appropriate care and protection of their rights. This course will cover real world examples to give you the best possible chance of safeguarding those you support.

  • What is the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and why is it important?
  • Why someone may lack capacity
  • The 5 principles of the Mental Capacity Act
  • How it can be established if someone has capacity to make a decision
  • The two-stage capacity assessment
  • Real word examples

Funding

Our PA training courses are currently fully funded by Skills for Care. This funding is available for Individual Employers living in England, aged 18 and over who employ their own PAs or contract* self-employed PAs, using either:

  • their own money
  • adult social care Direct Payments
  • NHS Personal Health Budgets.

*’Contracted’ refers to PAs with true self-employed status. We may ask for evidence from self-employed PAs accessing training.
