Drivers licence required: Yes

Hours per week:

During school terms, approx. 5.00pm-7.30/8.00pm on 2 weekdays plus Saturday - 9.00am-12.00pm. During school holidays, 3-4 hours x 3 days a week.

Hourly pay rate:

£10.42 per hour

Support Worker/Personal Care Assistant required to work with 11 year old boy. He has spina bifida, hydrocephalus and scoliosis.
He is very chatty when he gets to know someone. He likes jokes and a bit of sarcasm. He enjoys nature, animals, computer games and taking photos. Horses are his favourite animal.

You will be required to build a relationship with him, help him develop confidence and independence outside of the home e.g. going shopping, asking for what he wants in cafes, asking for help with getting around when needed, conversation and socializing.

He also requires support with going to zoos, farms, walks, lunch out, youth clubs in Chichester/Bognor and equine therapy sessions.

Must be fit and healthy to undertake the required tasks. He uses a wheelchair full time so you would be required to push his wheelchair.  May need support to adjust in the wheelchair occasionally.

You should have a full driving licence, be willing to drive a motability vehicle and over 25 for vehicle insurance purposes.

Some assistance with personal care tasks e.g. catheter care, could be included later on for the right applicant. Full training could be given for this.

The successful applicant will be kind, caring, reliable, trustworthy and love animals.

  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

  • Have a full driving licence be and willing to drive a motability vehicle
  • Over 25 for vehicle insurance purposes
  • Have experience of working with children with disabilities
  • A good communicator and able to develop a relationship with the child
  • Able to support with building confidence and independence outside of the home
