Hours per week:

3 hrs every day – 5pm – 8pm weekdays and flexible at weekends and an extra 20 hrs in holidays (14 weeks)

Hourly pay rate:

£10.45

I am looking for personal assistant for my delightful 19-year-old daughter with a physical disability.

She is a cheerful and open-minded individual who enjoys a variety of activities, such as listening to music, drama, and creating art.

She is in need of a caring and patient companion who can provide her with the support she requires to live her life to the fullest.

She requires support with activities such as walking, depending on the weather, help with life skills and social activities.

The current plan involves 3 hours of support every day, from Monday to Sunday but this could be flexible and also could be a job share.

There is an extra 20 hrs a week during college holidays where hours can be discussed.

Duties include:

  • Support to teach and develop life skills such as cooking
  • Encouraging to walk to the toilet where some support maybe required
  • Support to attend groups such as drama
  • Support to attend and engage in age appropriate activities to meet others and to have fun
  • To support to develop links with other people of own age
  • Wheelchair is used when out although she has some mobility

Candidate qualities:

  • Hygienic, tidy and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills

  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Must be comfortable with pets
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

Additional requirements

Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
