I am looking for personal care for a Man

Drivers licence required: No

Hours per week:

8am – 5pm Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri and Weds 8am – 4pm in term time. During school holidays 8am – 4pm for 3 days a week.

Hourly pay rate:

£11.50

I am looking for that special person or people to support my happy, bubbly 20 year old son to continue to develop his life skills and independence.

He attends Brinsbury college and requires 1-1 support to ensure his safety and to support him to meet his needs educationally.

Ideally you would support him from his home in Littlehampton to get ready and then go on the college bus with him or you could meet him at the college at 10am ready to start.

He also attends Ferring Country Centre and needs support whilst he is there on a Wednesdays and for three days in the holidays.

The role is to keep him engaged, safe and motivated so that he can continue to gain his confidence and independence moving into adulthood.

This can be a job share so please apply for any of the term time days or holidays days depending on your availability.

Duties include:

Domestic -

  • Support to get bag packed for college and be ready for the college bus
  • Make a snack and help empty bag after college

Personal Care: 

  • Reminding to go to the toilet

Social: 

  • The role is to fully support at college and Ferring Country Centre.
  • You need to be able to encourage participation in college activities and be aware of my sons safety as he can wander off.

Candidate qualities:

  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills

  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles but it would be useful to have some experience of Makaton or Signalong

Additional requirements

Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
