I am looking for personal care for a man

Drivers licence required: No

Hours per week:

4.5 hours per week, weekday ideal, flexibility available, to be discussed at interview.

Hourly pay rate:

£10 per hour

Support Worker


My husband is a pleasant 66 year old man who has some physical and mental health conditions, resulting in a decline in his cognitive ability and confidence in the past 2 years.

He needs support and supervision with practical, personal and organisational tasks.

This role is to prompt, support and assist my husband to carry out some daily living tasks including personal care, laundry and some domestic chores which will provide me with some respite.

There is free parking at or near the property.

Property is easily accessed by public transport by bus and train.

Applications will be review, shortlisted and contacted after 8th June.

Duties include:

  • Administration
  • Housekeeping
  • Shopping
  • Companionship
  • Dressing / undressing
  • Bathroom assistance
  • Medication prompting/administering
  • Personal grooming
  • Other relevant duties as required

Additional Duties:

Shave face and comb hair.
Clean his teeth.
Checking clothes are clean
Accompany to doctors/hospital appointments when required
Accompany to the library, walks, shops etc.
Accompanying when clothes-buying,
Accompany to social events such as walks out, café, shops, church meetings, the beach.
The above duties may require driving my husband in your car (if you have one).

Driver preferred but not essential


The role requires close personal contact with an individual who is extremely vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission. Preference may be given to applicants who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Careful consideration will be given to applicants who can show the vaccination is not suitable for them on reasonable grounds.

Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
