Looking for a part-time role that fits around your busy week?

I am a 35-year-old man with a love of history, travel, world news, and politics. I have an interest in languages, especially Spanish, Arabic, and French. Computer games are a passion of mine and often keep me indoors. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Affective Disorder four years ago and find that my family and I need support.

I am seeking a self-employed personal assistant to help with daily living tasks and encourage me to engage in exercise, such as walking our dog and accessing swimming.

Strong moral values such as patience, honesty, loyalty, and kindness in a PA are very important to me. Additionally, someone with similar interests and a clever, fast mindset would be great, as my brain is loaded with incredible facts and information. Someone I could debate with and bounce my knowledge off would be perfect!

I would like help and encouragement to develop my independent living skills. This would start with supporting me to look after my personal space, belongings, and maintain my personal hygiene.

In the future, I would appreciate support to organise aspects of my life, such as completing admin tasks and appointments, and helping me to cook and make healthy food choices so I can be independent.

• An understanding of bipolar disorder and psychosis would be a great asset.
• You should be able to tolerate me smoking
• Be tidy and well-organised
• A love of the outdoors is important, as I enjoy being in the sun on our local beach when encouraged.
• You must be alert and able to assess dangers and triggers specific to me and my environment, anticipating these to keep me safe.

Duties include:

  • Administration
  • Transportation
  • Companionship

Support/work alongside me with:

• Managing seasonal clothes & correct size so that I can look after and love and respect my clothing (no personal care required).
• General organising of book collection /tidying/de-cluttering of personal belongings
• Preparing drinks, snacks and meals and support in making healthy food choices
• Accessing social and leisure activities e.g. gym, walks with the dog, swimming etc
• Able to work flexibly with me within the family home and out in the community

Candidate qualities:

  • Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
  • Able to tolerate the employer smoking in the workplace
  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Must be comfortable with pets
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

• Energetic and quick witted
