Hourly pay rate:
£11 per hour + 45p per mile

I am a chatty gentleman looking for a couple of PAs to support me. I am generally a happy character and love being a part of the community and socialising. I need assistance with this as well as domestic tasks, personal care and attending appointments.
I need PAs who will take the time to really listen to me. I have OCD so would like you to assist me in having control over my life. It is very important for me to feel safe so you must be genuine and sincere as well as possessing a great sense of humour to keep up with some banter.
As I am a double amputee and use a manual wheelchair, I will need you to drive me in your car so I can get out and about. I may also need support with some household admin and preparing some meals (that’s where the good bacon sandwich comes in handy).
Any training you need for the role will be provided.

Duties include:
- Laundry- all aspects
- Changing/making bed linen
- Empty and clean commode if required
- Making phone calls on my behalf when I am too unwell to do this
- Making drinks if I have guests
- Supervision with showering/bathing, being on call in case assistance is required
- Help getting into and out of bath/shower as required
- Assistance with towelling drying.
- General skin care, applying cream
- Assistance with toileting
- Assistance with medication occasionally i.e. giving Ventolin
- Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips when required e.g. food shopping/clothes shopping
- Accompany employer when accessing social and leisure activities e.g. Clubs, groups, church
- Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital/physiotherapy appointments when required
- Occasional longer journeys
- The above duties will involve driving the employer in the PA’s car
- Lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car, pushing the employer’s manual wheelchair when out.
Candidate qualities:
- Takes pride in their work.
- Well presented, Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
- Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills, Able to read people
- Honest and cheerful, good sense of humour.
Additional requirements
Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
Notes:

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
