Hours per week:

Flexible support up to 6 hrs a week

Hourly pay rate:

£12 per hour

We are looking for reliable Support Workers to provide some support to our 13 year old son and enable short periods of respite.

The role is to encourage independence in daily living skills aswell as supporting him with fun activities such as baking, playing board games and role play.

As part of our sons care he needs support with doing therapies at home including physiotherapy exercises and sensory play.

This year we have National Trust membership so joining family outings to support with activities would be very helpful.

Duties include:

  • Eating and drinking assistance
  • Other relevant duties as required
  • Housekeeping
  • Cooking
  • Companionship
  • Dressing / undressing

Candidate qualities:

  • Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Creative
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

  • A UK driving licence and access to own vehicle is beneficial but not essential. Mileage will be paid at 45p per mile if using your own car.

Additional requirements

Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
