Hours per week:
4 hours per week. Additional hours in the school holidays est. 11 per week for 14 holiday weeks, Flexibility available, to be discussed.
Hourly pay rate:
£10.50 per hour
Personal Assistant/ Carer
My son has autism and developmental delay but he can make eye contact and understand speech, we speak slowly and use uncomplex language when communicating to assist with this. He responds well to praise and positive reinforcement, we have systems in place to help and encourage him make good choices and understand that other choice are poor, e.g. safe/unsafe behaviours around roads.
This role is to provide support to my son when he is accessing the community and for activities - some activities will require double up support where I will accompany and assist alongside this PA role. It is important that the post holder continues with the systems that are currently in place and that he is familiar with to build and encourage on the positive progress he has made.
This is a permanent contract employment with holiday leave and pay entitlement. Travel expenses can be claimed. Our property benefits from free roadside parking and is well accessed by public transport.

Tidying in the areas used by son to ensure safe play when at home.
Prompt and/or assist with using the toilet if needed.
Prompt to wash hands after using the toilet.
Assisting with any buttons/fastenings.
Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, for example assisting to get changed at swimming pool/gym.
Accompany and assist when accessing social and leisure activities, including but not limited to: swimming, beach, park, soft play.
The above duties will involve driving in your car (if applicable)

Car owner/driver preferred but not essential.

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
