We are really flexible on hours and have between 3-5 hours per week available. Just let us know when you have availability!

Hourly pay rate:

£13.50 per hour plus 45p per mile

Do you enjoy football and have a particular interest in Brighton and Hove Albion football club or just love football in general? Our 10 year son is passionate about watching his favourite team play at the Amex Stadium. He particularly loves trying to get the players autographs! We are looking for someone to help our son ‘live his best life’ and enjoy time away from our family home. Your role will be supporting our son to watch football matches, visiting farms and zoos, going swimming and traveling on trains and busses.

Our son’s diagnosis of Autism (profile in Aspergers) means that planning activities and days out is important. He is a chatty and enthusiastic child who would get so much from spending time doing activities that he enjoys. We would like his personal support assistant to help and encourage him to gain some independence skills and life skills away from the family home.

Duties include:

  • Other relevant duties as required
  • Shopping
  • Transportation
  • Companionship

  • Preparing drinks, snacks, and meals.
  • Baking with the child
  • Tidying up after activities.
  • Handling and caring for pets (dog, cat, 2 rabbits and tropical fish) with child.
  • Teaching independence and life skills.
  • Visiting/watching Brighton and Hove Albion football games
  • Collecting footballers’ autographs
  • Playing football
  • Visiting places like; swimming pools, parks, zoos, farms and beach.
  • Using public transport (trains and buses)
  • Playing Xbox and games within the family home.

Candidate qualities:

  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties

  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard

  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

  • Keen to work with an autistic child, who is articulate but with challenges in social communication and sensory processing.
  • Have an understanding of emotional dysregulation and to support someone who is feeling dysregulated.

Additional requirements

Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
