I am looking for personal care for a man
Drivers licence required: No
Hours per week:
4-6 hour blocks, mixture of day time and evenings
Hourly pay rate:
£12 daytime rate 7am-7pm. £15 night time rate 7pm-7am
He is a wheelchair user and requires some help with transferring and needs a lot of prompting to do things as he will forget.
He loves football and will sit and look at various football topics on the computer. We try and get out as much as we can just for a walk to get some fresh air.
Due to his Dysphasia he may not be able to verbalise everything but is still able to make decisions. Giving him options on what to do rather than telling him is very important as it helps him retain his independence.
My husband sometimes forgets that he is not as mobile as he used to be and will try to walk himself, or get something from a kitchen cupboard. I would like to be able to go out with the grandchildren or with friends knowing that he is safe at home so your support would be very much appreciated.
- Dressing / undressing
- Bathroom assistance
- Medication prompting/administering
- Personal grooming
- Eating and drinking assistance
- Moving and handling
Clearing up the kitchen after preparing food
Washing and bathing/showering – towelling dry/ drying hair
Help getting into and out of shower (wet room) as required
Occasionally taking him to his day centre
Trips out for walks in my electric wheelchair. Occasionally he will use a manual wheelchair
Sitting with him at home ensuring he has what he needs
Support to keep him safe whilst I am out

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
