Hours per week:

Flexible hours, weekdays and potentially weekends during the school holidays.

Hourly pay rate:

£15 per hour

I am looking for a PA to support my son who is 14 years old. We live in Worthing.

He has a diagnosis of Downs Syndrome and associated learning difficulties. He has very limited vocabulary, he has some Makaton signing. He requires help to remain safe in the community and in a home setting, he is a very curious young man. The support he need requires elements of personal care, specifically support with toileting and changing.

My son is a very energetic, sociable and happy you man; he is great fun to be with. He enjoys bike rides, walks, going to the park as well as swimming! He enjoys having one to one interaction and it supports him in so many ways. Being active is very important for him. We would like someone who has a car to be able to transport him around in the community to access all sorts of fun activities and spaces.

The successful applicant must be willing to support in a family setting.

Duties include:

  • Other relevant duties as required

  • Personal care, specifically support with toileting and changing
  • Supporting to access the community

Candidate qualities:

  • Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
