We anticipate each shift to be between 6-12 hours: being Fri 3pm to 9pm (6 hours) Fri/Sat 9pm to 9am (12 hours - night waking) Sat 9am to 3pm (6 hours) Sat 3pm to 9pm (6 hours) Sat/Sun 9pm to 9am (12 hours - night waking) Sun 9am to 3pm (6 hours) Sun 3pm to 9pm (adhoc)

Hourly pay rate:

starting from £15.00ph

We are looking for someone to support our 18 year old son within our home, as part of team providing round the clock care for one weekend a month.

He is non-verbal with Autism and Epilepsy. He is generally a happy young man. The role will include supporting in our home and potentially out on trips. Personal care and preparing meals will be part of the duties.

Typical hours will include shifts between 3pm on a Friday and 9pm on a Sunday, once a month.
We would ask that anyone applying for the role be flexible with regards to which shifts they work within any given month. In particular, this means being able to work the overnight shift if necessary.

Duties include:

  • Medication prompting/administering
  • Personal grooming
  • Eating and drinking assistance
  • Cooking
  • Looking after pets
  • Dressing / undressing
  • Bathroom assistance

Candidate qualities:

  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Must be comfortable with pets
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

Either experience or an interest in using PECS communication would be an advantage as we are keen to develop this. General interest in learning disabilities.

We are looking for someone who is calm and patient who doesn’t mind cats (we have three).

Experience with seizures would be an advantage.

Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
