I am looking for personal care for a Woman

Drivers licence required: No

Hours per week:

Hours available 7.45am to 9.45am Monday to Friday, with flexibility to exact times and Saturday 9am to 10.30am. You do not need to be able to do all 6 days.

Hourly pay rate:

£11.50 per hour

An enthusiastic, cheerful, and reliable support worker/s needed to help get me up in the morning. I am a 25-year-old young woman with cerebral palsy needing help with all my personal care. I love to chat, watching DVDs and look forward to my day ahead.

I am good natured and friendly if you are happy to help me do things my way. I use a powered wheelchair as I cannot walk but I am good at doing transfers with help

My Mum will help with some of the tasks as I prefer to transfer without a hoist. I have some speech, but you will need to get to know me to understand me

Training will be given, and a care plan is in place for you to follow.

Duties include:

  • Moving and handling
  • Housekeeping
  • Bathroom assistance
  • Dressing / undressing
  • Other relevant duties as required

Changing bed linen
Bed making
General cleaning of bathroom and bedroom
Taking out rubbish
Washing and showering - towelling dry/ drying hair
General hair/skin care
Using the toilet and changing continence products
Assistance with getting out of bed using turning stander - this is a 2 person task and will be helped by mum
Getting in and out of the wheelchair ('transferring') and shower/toilet chair
Teeth cleaning
Whilst on duty at the employer's home watching TV and assisting with craft activities

Additional requirements

Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
