Hours per week:

Mon, Wed & Fri 11am -6pm (school holidays only) shift times can be flexible and can be mutual agreed. Job shares welcome. Please apply if interested in any of the shifts offered indicating your availability on the application form.

Hourly pay rate:

£11 per hour

I am a mother to my 13-year-old twin boys with different additional needs and learning disabilities.

I am looking for one to two experienced, reliable, and vigilant PA (s) to support me while I recover from a stroke and to engage with my sons in my home and in the local community in activities they enjoy, keeping them safe.

Tasks include personal care for the boys and some domestic assistance.

This is a varied and rewarding role and training will be provided if required.

Duties include:

  • Eating and drinking assistance
  • Bathroom assistance
  • Moving and handling
  • Other relevant duties as required
  • Companionship
  • Dressing / undressing
  • Housekeeping

Changing pull ups as required for B
Support with transfers for B using with ceiling hoist
Dressing and undressing/ helping with buttons and fastenings.
Support hand over hand feeding for B
Ensuring B is safe when eating (soft puree diet) and drinking due to choking risk.
Assist D when using the toilet
Ensure both are clean and hygienic, prompts to wash hands.
On occasion to assist at bath time
Accompanying my sons and I to access the communal garden engaging them in activities they enjoy and keeping them safe.
On occasion acting as an extra pair of hands-on family days out.

Candidate qualities:

  • Reliable with good timekeeping
  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Hygienic, tidy and well organised
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Honest and cheerful
  • Creative
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
