Female Personal Assistant/ Support Worker
I love arts and crafts and being outdoors and enjoy company.
I am looking for a reliable and supportive PA to support me with accessing the community, building my confidence and independence as well as minimal assistance very rarely with personal care.
This is a rewarding role with all professional training provided
- Dressing / undressing
- Bathroom assistance
- Moving and handling
- Other relevant duties as required
Monitoring safety in kitchen and promoting independence with food preparation
Helping with buttons and fastenings
Helping with other aspects of personal care as required, for example assisting employer’s daughter to get changed at swimming pool.
Assisting with getting in and out of the wheelchair and pushing when needed. Wheelchair NOT used fulltime currently.
Guiding on/off bus due to partial sight
Assisting to get ready for the day, eg checking she has emergency medication kit, sunflower lanyard and sight cane
Accompanying and assisting employer’s daughter when accessing public transport perhaps to get to and from college, or to social and leisure activities, eg swimming, park, shopping etc
Accompanying when clothes-buying, including help with un/dressing and lifting clothes on/off the rails, promoting money management, help her pay for goods
The above duties may involve driving the employer in the PA’s car, lifting the folding wheelchair in/out of car, pushing the employer’s wheelchair when out. Having a car is desirable but not essential.
Whilst on duty at the employer’s home watching TV and assisting with craft activities
- Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
- Hygienic, tidy and well organised
- Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
- Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Honest and cheerful
- Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
- Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
Desirable but not essential:
-Hold a UK driving licence
-Access to own vehicle
-Experience of working with SEN children
Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
