Hourly pay rate:

£13.33 per hour

We are parents to a beautiful 2 year old little girl who has PURA syndrome.

Our daughter is a happy and curious little girl who requires additional support with her medical and special needs.

She uses a ventilator when sleeping and is non mobile and non verbal so we are looking for an experienced PA to assist us and our daughter in every day tasks.

We are keen to find a PA that not only provides a high level of care but someone that becomes part of our family and is invested in our daughter’s development and happiness.

Full training and support will be given for the role.

The role is for 24 hours per week. Exact days/hours to be agreed as some flexibility available.

Duties include:

  • Eating and drinking assistance
  • Moving and handling
  • Clinical tasks
  • Other relevant duties as required
  • Housekeeping
  • Transportation
  • Companionship
  • Dressing / undressing
  • Bathroom assistance

  • Ensure our daughter’s environment is safe, clean and hygienic.
  • Prepare daughter’s meals and drinks and feed orally and top ups via gastrostomy button. Our daughter has feeding difficulties so requires careful supervision/support.
  • Clean and tidy after meals and food prep.
  • Ensure ventilator is clean including washing filters, mask and replacing circuits/filters as necessary.
  • Ensure play area, toys and equipment at home are kept clean and tidy after use.
  • Washing, dressing, hair brushing, teeth cleaning and toileting (using nappies).
  • Clean and dress gastrostomy button area daily to avoid infection.
  • Support us with therapy exercises – training provided.
  • Plan and carry out activities and trips to suitable environments/attractions within a given budget such as soft play, swimming, toddler group, walks, etc.
  • When at home engage our daughter in stimulating activities such as arts and crafts, playing with toys, reading books, bubbles, etc.
  • Support us in taking our daughter to hospital appointments.

Candidate qualities:

  • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
  • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
  • Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
  • Able to always work to high standards of health & safety

  • Experienced in working with children in a similar capacity
  • Honest, reliable and good timekeeper
  • Must be willing to drive our daughter in your car. Mileage will be paid at 45p per mile

Additional requirements

Non-smoker preferred or someone willing to refrain from smoking during working hours

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.

Please note, if you are successful in your application for this position you will be employed directly by the individual employer and not Independent Lives. Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts.
